First few days back in- person school

The last few days have been my first days back at my high school since March of 2020.

The first day of school: I was extra prepared for the first day of school, meal prepped, clean hair, and had an optimistic attitude. While I was waiting for the bus my friend actually called asking if I wanted a ride to school so I got there on time as well. Being back in the building was a bit surreal, seeing everyone for the first time in a year and a half was so exciting and fun! But then I got in line for the counsel's office because I didn’t have a class schedule. This year I am going to be doing a program called running start which is basically taking community college classes that double both for both high school and college credits. Thankfully I’ve had my college classes scheduled since June but I still hadn’t gotten my high school classes which gave me a lot of anxiety. The counselors were super backed up which meant they could not do anything to help me at least for the first day. So a few other running start students and I went to Starbucks and hung out for part of the day. After that it was lunch and then I went to one of my friend’s to the rest of her classes which was surprisingly really fun. After school, I went to a friend’s house and I got to see her baby bunnies in her neighbor’s backyard. The babys eyes weren’t even open yet. Overall a really good first day with no official classes.

Second day: The first part of my day I spent reading at a coffee shop I’m trying to get a job at and then I went to school for lunch. At this point, I wanted classes but knew it was going to be a while so after I had lunch with my friends and I went home. One of my friends who is also doing running start somehow got a meeting with the counselor and I practically ran back to school to see if I could get my classes. Thankfully I was able to meet with my counselor and get two of my high school classes. I was planning on doing three high school classes so when I found out that I was only allowed to do two due to the 10-time crunch between my college classes and my high school classes. So I am going to have to add another college course… which honestly sounds harder. The fall college semester is 10 weeks long so I figure if it’s crazy hard I only have to do it for 10 weeks.
